It's not hard to keep your sponge cloth in tip top shape, but we thought it would be good to include a bit of a care guide anyway!
Keeping It Clean
- After each use, rinse your Sponge Cloth with water to remove any debris or residue. You can also use a mild soap if needed, especially for tougher stains.
- For a deeper clean, you can either place your Sponge Cloth in the dishwasher or washing machine. Use a gentle cycle with a mild detergent.
Lifespan
The lifespan of your Sponge Cloth depends on its usage, we break this into 2 categories to keep it simple:
-
Heavy use (such as kitchen tasks, dishes, spills, messy counters) is heavy lifting and most of our customers look to compost their sponge cloths after 2 to 3 months.
- Lighter use (such as bathroom sinks, windows, mirrors, dusting) means they are going to still be as good as gold for 9 to 12 months! Just dry them and put them away till the next time.
Design Considerations
Our customers lean towards darker designs (like Maritime Green) for coffee machines and heavy use, and lighter designs (such as Hamptons Starfish or Sunshine Citrus) for bathrooms and windows.
When It's Time to Compost
There are a few signs to look for that tell you that it might be time to say goodbye and send your sponge cloth onto your worm farm, bokashi or home compost bin:
-
It doesn't plump up as much or as quickly when you wet it.
- Spills don't disappear as easily as they once did.
- It starts to look tattered and stained.
Composting your Sponge Cloth ensures a circular lifecycle, from soil to soil, with zero impact on the environment. Plus, starting fresh with a clean sponge always adds a little sparkle to your cleaning!
